Thumping heart cells save lives

Inherited heart diseases are one of the most common genetic mutations around the world. They can affect more than one person in a single family. It is still a mystery why some people get symptoms and other family member not. It is also problematic to find an ideal treatment for each person and each specific heart problem. Mikko, a young goalie tells his own story what happened after he felt arrhythmic symptoms after an intense hockey game.

All wired up! – Hope for MS and spinal cord injuries from stem cells

There are still several diseases and injuries especially related to brain and nerves that can not be treated or healed, such as MS disease or spinal cord injuries. In order to develop better treatment for these severe health problems, we need to understand better what causes them and what happens in our nerve system. Stem cells offer new hope in solving the mystery of nerves.
